Large Milkweed Bug
Oncopeltus fasciatus
Family Lygaeidae (Seed Bugs)

Size: 10-18 mm (adults)

Season: May through October

Habitat: Fields and meadows with milkweed and other flowers

Food: Seeds of milkweed plants; bugs accumulate toxins from the milkweed, which can potentially harm predators who do not heed the bright warning colors.
