Broad-winged Hawk

Family - Accipitridae

Broad-winged hawks live in deciduous forests of eastern North America.

The bird is a stout, medium-sized hawk with broad wings.

It is only around Northern Virginia during the summer where it lives in the deciduous forests of the east coast. Broad winged hawks usually feed on small mammals and reptiles.

These birds are also known for diving down and quickly grabbing prey.
