More information: Board of Supervisors vote for each proposal Map showing project locations. Proposals for the Rural Crescent Quick and easy guide to the Comprehensive Plan
Supervisors agree to reconsider Rural Crescent boundaries and begin planning to increase residential densities countywide

It was standing room only for the Board of Supervisors vote on initiation of the Comprehensive Plan Amendments on Tuesday, March 14.

Although no public hearing was scheduled, about 50 people shared their views on these development proposals at Citizen's Time. Citizens who supported preservation of Prince William County's Rural Crescent represented the overwhelming majority of speakers.

This was a remarkable turnout for a meeting scheduled during normal working hours, which continues to demonstrate citizen's strong support for maintaining Prince William County's Rural Crescent.

Despite the strong show of citizen support for the Rural Crescent, Chairman Connaughton and Supervisors Barg, Caddigan, Covington, Jenkins and Nohe voted to approve the AVONDALE proposal; Supervisors Stirrup and Stewart voted against initiating this proposal, which passed with a 6-2 vote.

These proposals offer tempting road improvements, but threaten to expand the Development Area into the Rural Crescent, adding many many new homes to Prince William. Do we really think we can trade more houses for more roads and come out ahead? Will the Board be willing to allow increased densities in the Rural Crescent in exchange for ??
