Fireside Wesleyan Development Application Timeline of Events:
How this Application Got on the December 4 2007 Board Agenda

by Michelle Trenum

MARCH 6, 2007
  • Board of Supervisors unanimously passes a resolution that after the election, between the dates of November 6, 2007 and December 31, 2007, they will not consider or vote on ANY rezoning or special use permits. Resolution 07-190
APRIL 2007
  • Fireside Wesleyan Church Newsletter, p. 5 :
As was stated in our 9:15 meeting on Sunday 25 March, the Prince William County (PWC) Board of Supervisors voted to hold a public hearing for the map amendment. As Pastor Allen had mentioned, this would effectively “carve” out our parcel from the Rural Crescent and allow us to tap in to PWC public sewer. Please realize that if we are able to effect this change, in addition to raising the property value, we will save $250k (plus some) in construction monies. That is significant.
JULY 2007
  • Fireside Wesleyan Church gets on the Board schedule for January 20.
OCTOBER 9, 2007
  • Supervisor Covington requests a change to resolution 07-190 for commercial ventures & SUP consideration during Lame Duck session, citing his reason for the change as being commercial projects tied to Innovation shouldn't be held up in the pipeline. Approved.

OCTOBER 17, 2007

  • Fireside Wesleyan Comprehensive Plan Amendment (CPA) and Special Use Permit (SUP) comes before the Planning Commission. The CPA is denied unanimously. The Special Use Permit is denied by a 5/3 vote: Voting YES for the SUP are Burgess (Brentsville), Bryant ( Woodbridge ) and Gonzales (Coles).

LATE OCTOBER, 2007

  • Fireside Wesleyan requests that the Planning Office move their BOCS public hearing date up to December 4. Staff says no due to the longstanding “lame duck resolution” and the fact that this particular case involves an amendment to Comp Plan concerning sewer.
  • A call is then placed by Mr. Covington-Brentsville reminding the County Executive and the planning staff that the resolution had been changed the week prior and now only referred to residential rezonings.
  • The County Executive and planning staff make the change to the schedule.
NOVEMBER 30, 2007
  • The County sends an email notifying the public of items on the December 4 BOCS agenda is sent out.
  • Public becomes aware that the BOCS date for Fireside Wesleyan has been moved up from January 20 to December 4.
