Two new invasive exotic insects are threatening the trees of Prince William County. Emerald ash borer and the walnut twig beetle (carrier of Thousand Canker Disease) have both been found in PWC, and are in the early stages of killing all ash, black walnut, and butternut trees. PWC is under quarantine for both insects.

Come learn about the life cycle of these insects, their potential for damage in the county, what is being done about them and why those odd blue triangles are hanging in local ash trees!

Help us get ready for the Bluebell Festival! Work day tasks include clearing and mowing, cleaning the Stone House, arranging outdoor activities and sprucing up the grounds.

Please join us to welcome spring and view the spectacular display of Virginia Bluebells that carpet the floodplain along Cedar Run for nearly a mile.

Displays and activities around the Stone House will highlight local wildlife and natural areas. Come to see more about MCB Quantico's efforts to protect environmental resources, Friends of Potomac River Refuges activities at Occoquan Bay NWR, DGIF's animal skulls and pelts, aquatic critters and more!

A bake sale and raffle for a rain barrel hand-painted by local artist James Gallagher will benefit stewardship projects at Merrimac Farm round out the event. Concessions and food from N.C. Ribs on Wheels will be available for purchase.
